This is a experimental device regarding the
dusty plasma. Generally everyone knows that a substance has three states: solid, liquid and vapor. However, when the vapor is furthermore heated, thermal motion of the vapor molecule become high and it transfers in the 4th state of the substance in which the vapor molecules are ionized to the electron and ion (known as plasma). When the hot substance (approximately 10,000 degrees K) which is called the plasma, grain to lower it size of several micrometers, then what will occur? Probably it evaporates dissolving the particle. But, under suitable condition, some particle do not melt, which show very unique phenomenon. The is the typical example of the formation of Coulomb Crystal which was observed in 1994. |
