Lab visits are welcome at any time; please contact us at the email address below. Choosing a lab is especially important for undergraduate students, so if you are interested, we strongly recommend visiting us beforehand.

The Takahashi Lab is still a new laboratory, launched in the summer of 2020.
We develop unique microscopes and conduct broad and in-depth research ranging from cells to materials. We put particular effort into instrument development and have achieved measurements that only we can perform. Our collaborations extend beyond Japan, and together with researchers from many fields we are opening up research areas no one has explored before. We welcome enthusiastic people who want to take on new challenges.

Choosing a lab is very difficult, but if you find a place that looks interesting, that is probably the one that suits you best.

For undergraduate, master's and doctoral students

Our lab provides an environment where you can immerse yourself in what you find rewarding. There will be times when research hardly progresses, but the experience of facing difficult problems and finding clues to solve them will become a valuable asset for your future. Being able to work on research themes that no one has yet achieved is something only a university can offer. We will support you in making the most of this opportunity.

In science and engineering, we believe real university life begins when you join a lab. Your own initiative is important so that everyone can spend a truly fulfilling time together. Besides research, we actively encourage interaction within the lab, and planning and running events are left to the students.

For those considering a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship

No experience with scanning probe microscopy is required. In fact, we especially welcome people with expertise in other fields. If you would like to master unique microscopy techniques over two to three years and open up new research fields, we will support you as much as possible, including with your application. We look forward to new members bringing new perspectives to the lab.

Having gone through a Ph.D., research abroad and postdoctoral positions myself, I feel that original research and techniques that characterize a researcher are important in running a laboratory. Also, most research cannot be done alone, so it is important to tackle problems together with lab members and collaborators.

For companies

Because our lab is small, we often cannot start collaborations right away, but if you are interested in our technologies, please contact us below.
